Middle Order: India’s Persistent Issue
India are overdependent on the likes of Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan & Rohit Sharma to play the long innings and score big. The Indian top order has scored most (13055) runs among rest teams. India’s middle order has 6th highest (7025) runs scored by middle order.
5th Bowler: While India have 4 very good bowlers, they have struggled with their 5th bowler. Pandya has been expensive recently and was also expensive in the Champions Trophy while Kedhar Jadhav struggled against Australia recently after 1 good outing. Jasprit Bumrah Jasprit Bumrah with his current form provide the team with cutting edge that India hardly had a fast bowler bowling consistently in the 140’s and bowling Yorkers at will. Bumrah is also the top ranked ODI bowler. |
Too many changes:
India in the recent past have erred on their selection by not picking the team according to the conditions or not picking the right combination of no of bowlers and batsman. Ravi Shastri has to prove his mettle in this World Cup. Are the pacers Enough? India has entered CWC 19 with 3 pacers (M Shami, Bhuvneshwar K & J Bumrah) for the tournament in England where the wicket has something for pacers.
