Strengths:
Strong Raiding: It’s difficult to stop Ajay or Rahul alone but Tamil Thalaivas opponents have to prepare for the scary proposition of stopping both of them.
Strong Defence: Tamil Thalaivas pose a strong and experienced defence comprising of Mohit Chhillar, Manjeet Chhillar and the experienced Ran Singh which is capable of stopping most raiding units if they gel.
Weakness:
No 3rd Raider: Tamil Thalaivas pose an enviable raiding duo of Ajay Thakur and Rahul Chaudhari but they do not have a 3rd raider who can consistently contribute. Shabeer is not the player he once was and Vineeth Sharma also has not impressed in the chances he has had in Pro Kabaddi, though he was impressive in the recently concluded Senior Nationals at Raigad.
Opportunities:
Rahul Chaudhari and Mohit Chhillar: The “Raid Machine” had fallen of the cliff a little for the past 2 seasons but has the chance to return to form with a fresh start with Tamil Thalaivas. It is the same with Mohit Chhillar who suffered a below last season with Jaipur Pink Panthers and the 25-year old will want to dispel notions that he cannot perform without Surender Nada at the opposite corner.
Chance to reach the Play-offs: With a strong squad Tamil Thalaivas will hope to make their first ever play-offs.
Threats:
Age Factor: Ajay, Manjeet and Ran Singh are all on the wrong side of 30, is this the season where they slow down?
